Joseph Molnar is an ironsmith who learned his craft in his native Hungary before immigrating to Delaware County in 1957. Vinyl and fiberglass are replacing everything, even wood, the age of the artist in iron is past, just like the shoe-maker and the plasterer. People ask today how much, not how good.
Joseph Molnar has operated his own custom iron works and welding business in Prospect Park since 1960, first in a rented garage and now in a 2,000 square foot shop behind his home.
Despite his expertise at creating a wide variety of ornamental iron products, today his work mostly consists of making railings and fences as well as an occasional welding job for customers who still appreciate the value of metal.
Joseph Molnar's truck also displays his iron work.
